Hobbies help build different areas of our lives as well as help to relieve stress from day-to-day things. I have several hobbies that I enjoy that are really diverse in nature. My hobbies include Strategy Board Gaming (mostly Euro Games), Shooting (including competitively), Motorcycles (cruisers), Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Tennis, Bowling, Golf, watching sports (live or tv) and more. Unfortunately, when it comes to the more physical sports I have not been as active as I would like. I am, however, working on being more active so I can get back to those things as well.

So early on my brother taught me to play Dungeons and Dragons, Axis and Allies, Shōgun, Fortress America and other such games that make you think, plan and strategize. Now I continue playing these types of games and own quite a few of them. Each year in September I attend That Board Gaming Thing (a board game event my brother is the head organizer of). It is a fun 4 day event of gaming and hanging with all kinds of great people. This year they started a second event, Whose Turn is it anyway?, in February and we had a great turn out. I look forward to both events now each year.

I got into shooting shortly after moving to North Carolina. I actually got my first firearm in Florida, a Glock 27 .40 cal. I did not care for the compact style of the Glock 27 and sold it to get a Sig Saur P239 9mm, also a compact firearm but it felt much better in my hand. Since then I have acquired quite a few firearms and sold some, but my favorite pistol is my fully custom Kimber America Gold Combat 1911 .45 cal. It is one solid performing firearm. I have shot IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Assoc.) matches and done well, even winning in my class. I enjoy shooting and may get back to IDPA or even 3-gun competition but for now I enjoy going to the range and training and having fun. I also enjoy teaching others and am considering getting my NRA pistol and rifle instructor certificates.

Motorcycles, what can I say... I love riding a cruiser. I am not into crotch rockets or sport bikes, but a good ride on a cruiser is fun and I miss my bike. I had a beautiful 1999 Honda ACE Tourer 1100. It was red and black and had solid saddle bags, cobra floor boards, highway bar and pegs, and a tall windshield. I enjoyed riding with some friends or just cruising to and from work. Riding was a lot of fun and plan to get back to it when I can. (sorry mom)

As for sports, I have always loved playing sports. I played baseball when I was growing up, along with golf, tennis and basketball. Those were the main things I liked doing growing up. I got into beach volleyball for a little while but hey I lived by Clearwater Beach in Florida! When I visited my brother here in North Carolina before moving here he introduced me to Ultimate Frisbee, which is a lot of fun. I was inactive for several years and put some weight on, but now I am trying to seriously reverse that and get back to doing the things I enjoy.

I like to watch sports as well. College and professional football and basketball as well as professional hockey mostly. I still like to watch some baseball too but without a pro team nearby it is only on tv. My teams are (in no particular order); College: Florida Gators (go Gators! my brother graduated from UF) and Professional: NY Mets, NY Knicks, NY Rangers, NY Giants. I also cheer for the Buffalo Sabres (used to like watching Dominik Hašek in goal), team playing against the following teams: Florida State Seminoles, Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Flyers. Gotta love the rivalries.
